Trafford Park is home to around 1,330 businesses employing over 35,000 people. It is one of the largest and most successful business parks in Europe and home to global brands including  Kellogg's, Unilever, L'Oreal, Adidas, Procter & Gamble, Amazon, Manchester United Football Club and the Intu Trafford Centre.  Trafford Park’s varied and significant business base, vibrancy, communication and supply chain linkages have attracted new investment such as ITV Studios (Coronation Street) and Missguided.   

As well as its strong industrial base, Trafford Park also benefits from its outstanding location with over 120,000 registered businesses located within a 30 minute drive time of Trafford Park and easy access to the motorway network, Manchester Ship Canal, rail freight terminal and Manchester International Airport.  The Trafford Park Metrolink extension, is currently under construction and scheduled to be completed by 2020 providing improved public transport connectivity into the heart of Trafford Park.

Over 99.5% of premises in Trafford are now connected to superfast broadband with Trafford Park also serviced by ‘The Loop’, a unique fibre network offering ultrafast connectivity reaching 10Gb/s. 

With its advantages of location, scale, connectivity, access to skilled labour markets, and diverse business base, Trafford Park represents one of the prime locations in the North West and a significant driver for economic growth in the Manchester City Region.

Arup, Groundwork and Siemens have been commissioned by Trafford Council to undertake research to ascertain how Trafford Park can address the challenges of net-zero, rising energy prices, transport congestion and the quality of the environment on Trafford Park. The Greening Trafford Park Framework and Low Carbon Trafford Park Frameworks set out their findings and actions that could be taken to address these challenges.
