Recent Investment / Planned Developments

The first phase of the proposed £70m high quality Altair scheme, on a site close to the Interchange, is due to start in Autumn 2016 and will include retail, leisure and residential uses as well as car parking and public space.

A redevelopment of the old hospital site within the Historic Market Quarter is due to start in 2016, with an improved Library and Health and Wellbeing Centre. This will complement the recent investment in refurbishing the historic Market House which was completed in 2014, providing a high quality food and drink offer.

The first phase of refurbishment works in the Stamford Quarter is underway and is due for completion in summer 2016.

Other recently completed schemes include a new £17m new state-of-the-art hospital, along with a £19m investment in Altrincham’s new Interchange. A sympathetic refurbishment of the historic Stamford House next to the Interchange offers ground floor retail units with high quality apartments on the upper floors.

The Altrincham Strategy

The Altrincham Strategy provides a framework for delivering the regeneration of Altrincham Town Centre and creating one of the best market towns in the country. The first phase of the public realm and environmental works (Cross Street, Shaws Road and Goose Green was completed in November 2015 and the second phase to refurbish Stamford New Road is now on site and is due for completion in late 2016. A strategy is also being prepared to identify improvements to car parking and signage.
