An outline planning application for Phase 1 (Carrington Village) was approved by the Council in April 2017. The Carrington Village scheme which is due to start on site by 2019 will comprise up to 725 dwellings, 90,000 sq.m employment floor-space, a new village centre and new public open space. A masterplan for later phases of Future Carrington is currently being prepared alongside the emerging Greater Manchester Spatial Framework.

Other Developments

The area is already attracting large scale employment investment from leading global companies. The multi-national paper and packaging manufacturer SAICA opened its new £300m recycled paper mill in 2013. Carrington Power completed their £600m power station facility in 2016 which will generate enough electricity to meet the energy needs of one million homes, using the latest natural gas technology (CCGT).
